Thank you for stopping by Karlassi. Caribou happens to be one of my offices too. There are trade offs both ways. I hope your church is still making time to eat together. I think it's so important for our faith.

Before I moved to New England, I served a new church start that didn't have a building. The way we grew was being at table together....get-to-know you dinners at houses, renting outdoor space for picnics. My office was the local Caribou and Panera bread....and although I am grateful for my new office and church building, I miss the frequency of intimate at table time in my new ministry setting.

Great post, thank you.

Rachel, that is a great idea. I think you're right that we overlook the simple daily thing of eating to remember Jesus in favor of the big and spectacular.

I agree Sally--that would be very wonderful.

What if more of our ministry was like this? A natural part of our life than something else we tack onto our endless to-do list.

If we could manage this it would be just wonderful!!!

I have always found it fascinating that the one time Jesus told his disciples to remember him was when he was doing something so simple and basic: sharing a meal with his friends. He didn't say, "Remember me everytime you walk on water" or "Remember me everytime you cslm a storm" or "Remember me everytime you see a little girl raised from the dead." No, instead he took bread. He broke it. He blessed it. And he shared it with his friends. And he said, "Do this. And remember me."

You ask what our ministry would look like if it were more intrinsic to our daily lives. To that I would add the question: what would our daily lives look like if we did as Jesus suggested, if we remembered him everytime we sat at table with another?

Excellent post.
