My problem is cooking, hate cooking, but I’ve come around on cleaning. In fact, I need to drag myself away from the computer and do some now!

I think my backing off from housework probably comes more from all the complementarian stuff that I grew up with: that’s the woman’s job. It what she’s supposed to do. Major backlash against that.

I find cleaning cathartic too. It never fails that when I’m doing some internal cleaning that I start cleaning the house too.

Dating a Republican huh? Well I’m an Independent who leans left and The Hubby is an independent who leans right. And then there is that Dem/Rep super couple, who’s names I can’t remember now. So I guess all things really are possible.

Well, part of being a feminist is the choice factor. Women should be free to choose what they do with their time instead of being assigned tasks based on sex/gender. So housework itself isn’t really an anti-feminist act. It’s something you just have to work out with your individual partner, which it sounds like you did long ago .

I personally find a good cleaning sweep to be somewhat cathartic. Instant results and easy so your brain is left to be occupied by more interesting thoughts. But I’m mostly a piles kind of gal, too.

Things I never thought I’d do: Date a Republican. Still working on that one .
