Exactly right, Shawna, about the void, the emptiness of depression! Oh, I came over here because of you encouraging update you linked to from FB, but I needed to comment on this post (and I still haven't finished the blog you tagged me for way over a year ago).

As likely you realize, the popular image of depression is sadness, but a painful absence of affect is far more characteristic of an established depression. In a way I think the commercials for antidepressants and other RX drugs may be a good idea, but then again...maybe not and then again I'm rambling again.

BTW, I haven't been here or reading any blog forever and I love love LOVE your new photographic header! Peace and hope to you...and a hug, too.

If our heart doesn't work properly we take medication; if our thyroid doesn't work properly we take medication to even it out. We should veiw our brain chemistry the same way but instead we think we should be able to work through it and fix it ourselves.

The commercial is Cymbalta. I remember when I was going through a period of depression I had to turn the TV if that commercial came on.

I hope your meds help and that you can continue these baby steps. You gotta start somewhere!
