Spiritual Direction

Spiritual direction (or spiritual coaching) is simply of way of seeing Godde more clearly in your life and discerning what Godde wants you to do now as well as in the near future. I think it also helps us see the little boxes we put Godde in, so that Godde can break out of them and show us that she can do anything she wants in our lives, regardless of the lies the church or our culture has told us all of our lives. And there are a lot of lies about what a woman’s place should be in this world:

• Women should stay home.
• Women are too emotional to lead.
• Women shouldn’t speak in church.
• Women shouldn’t have authority over a man.

You wouldn’t be wrong to think that Godde made women second-class citizens to be men’s perpetual maid service. But the Bible gives a drastically different picture of both Godde and women. In the Bible Godde is pictured as a woman in labor, a mother, a midwife, and a housekeeper. Godde is pictured as a mother hen sheltering her children and as a mother bear protecting her cubs. In the Bible you will find women as religious leaders, tribal leaders, merchants, traders, and business women as well as wives and mothers. Women in the Bible played just as many roles and wore just as many hats as we do today.

Then I would love to talk to you. Spiritual direction sessions are $75 for 30 minutes or 3 sessions for $150. Sessions are normally monthly, so you have time to practice new disciplines and watch for how Godde is working around you and in you. I offer a free 20 session the first time to see if I would be a good fit for working with you. Spiritual direction is very personal work, and you need to be comfortable with me.
