“Everyday’s Most Quiet Need”

All the things I’ve wanted
Longed for
Dreamed of—
I found in you.
A best friend who
Let’s me be me—
Quirks and all.
I yearned for someone
Who would believe in me;
Share my dreams;
Support my vocation.
And when you said
I’m “intellectually sexy”
I lost my breath
And my heart sang.
I can’t believe I wait
For the phone to ring.
But I do…
Because I long to—
Hear your voice—
Hear you laugh—
Hear you say…
“Hey beautiful.”
